"Lovely old coaching inn with some charm and character sitting on the outskirts of Goathland. A ten minute walk gets you onto the old setting of the Heartbeat ITV series of the 1990- 2000 era. Friendly team and altogether a lovely relaxing place fora shortbreak"

"Had a great time with friends last night. We all said the hotel was very good and we would come back. The inside looks like it has been renovated recently and they are in the process of renovating the outside with scaffolding up at the moment. The room was great with a massive comfortable bed. I would say the only comments about the shower room is that the shower head needs replacing and the window was a bit tired and wasn’t possible to open it for ventilation and there didn’t seem to be a working fan. The breakfast was lovely and very well cooked with plenty of choice on both the hot and cold sides of the buffet. Overall great."

"A lovely quiet & peaceful location on a rural working farm close to the North Yorkshire National Park & moors.Nearby Whitby & Pickering offered other good Places of interest, as did the North Yorkshire Moors Heritage Railway.Jackie, our host, was welcoming & available to respond to any queries or questions that we had.We would highly recommend it."

"Arrived at the witching post and was greeted at the bar and shown to the room. The pub was lovely with an open fire going. The evening meal and breakfast was great and the pub is an excellent base location for lovely walks and short distance from the coast. With regards the room, I think we were close to the flue from the open fire and the room had the fire smell. The cold water tap on the bath didn’t release any water but we got round that by topping up the bath with cold water from the shower. I think the pub could easily charge a lot more for the rooms but they need a good clean and decorating (too many dusty areas and mould around the bath sealant unfortunately. For our 2 night stay, the pub was really used as a base for sleeping and eating as we were out all day, it certainly served its purpose. Needs some work to take it to another level but we really enjoyed our stay and the staff are very friendly and helpful"

"This is our 3rd time of visiting. Lovely warm atmosphere. Staff very welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive. Dog friendly. Some bits of the decor need updating (which is planned) but still a relaxing and comfortable stay. The room was spacious and well equipped. The food is excellent and well presented. Would definitely recommend it."

"Well we were welcomed by Selma, who was a very pleasant, friendly and efficient host. The room was very comfortable and well equipped….even a little bottle of fresh milk for our tea and coffee, plus a few cookies for us. There was also water available in small bottles in the fridge. The breakfasts were excellent, fresh fruit and squeezed orange juice! A great selection every day!! The little village had a co-op fully stocked, art store and more across from the station. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to take the train into Whitby……We’ll be back some day…..😊"
