"There was a lot of decorating going on particularly along our corridor, and they are presumably going to improve all bedrooms eventually. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the hotel was. Bar area really good and very busy. Being able to pre book parking is a bonus and worth doing. Breakfast slightly disappointing as they kept running out of things and there were a few queues but what we had was good and it was very busy. Would definitely stay there again. It doesn't appear to be a Shearings hotel anymore ."

"Had a lovely 4 night stay. The room was very clean..bathroom too. Enough drawers and storage space. The food was amazing. Breakfast was lovely..good quality and great portions. Restaurant/ bar food brilliant. Food good quality..cooked and presented really well. Staff very accommodating and friendly."

The property is immaculately presented, and the welcome pack was a thoughtful touch that added to the overall experience. The owner deserves high praise for the evident care and effort put into making guests feel at home. Michelle was exceptionally helpful, promptly addressing all of my questions prior to our arrival, and the departure process was seamless.Whitby is a short drive away for a more busy atmosphere and local history. "Wonderful cottage close to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. Really cosy, spacious property great for families. Lovely log burner for winter nights. In a picturesque hamlet that is a 10 minute drive to the centre of Whitby. Wonderful views from the kitchen and great for star gazing from the skylight on the third floor. "

"The hosts Phillip and Dee could not do enough for us, they were very friendly. The room was lovely and clean and refills of tea, coffee, biscuits etc provided outside the rooms for guests to help themselves to. The breakfasts we had were amazing, plenty of choice and beautifully cooked. There’s a bus to Whitby just near the house and many other places to visit nearby."

"This place is a little gem.you had no need to contact clive as everything and i mean everything was supplied and detailed accounts of all trips and knowledge of the area were in 3 folders expertly done by clive and sarena.Would i go again 100%"
