"We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Swindon. OK externally it’s looking a little tired and dated and needing some TLC, but putting that to one side, it has several plus points worthy of note not the least of which was the competitive price for a one night stay. Internally the place is neat and tidy and clean. Our room was fine. The bathroom was small but the Grohe shower - a personal favourite of mine - worked well. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. It even had a window that you could open which isn’t a certainty in many hotels. Plus a fan to help during the current heatwave. We only stayed one night but our interaction with the staff went well. They all seemed happy in what they were doing and were more than competent. Staff in the restaurant especially went out of their way to be friendly and ensure things were as they should be. The breakfast in particular represented excellent VFM. Surely, no one passes up on this opportunity to start the day with everything you could want for less than the cost of two cups of coffee. Location wise, it’s a short distance off the M4, and is a ten minute walk to Coate Water Country Park which has got a circular walk which was great for exercising the dog. This is highly recommended. All things considered, it was a positive experience and if I’m looking to break up a journey from the far SW to London is something I would likely repeat. We didn’t use the swimming pool but I can imagine that would be another positive feature"

"I was so pleased when I arrived at the Old Mill Inn. Travelling on my own caused a few issues like taking a taxi from the train station took almost twice as long because of the road construction. What a picturesque place! All was great except for the heat wave. The ladies at the desk were suffering with that fan."

"From the exterior the Hotel is somewhat underwhelming .Once inside, we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was enthusiastic and informative. The interior although adequate would benefit from a freshen up to paintwork and perhaps and injection of colour and artwork to walls. We had dinner on one occasion which was fine but the menu is quite limited. The waitress was wonderful (Nicole) and was very professional in her manner. The general experience was good but i suggest with a small amount of work to decoration and exterior gardens could be wonderful. Thank you and we will return again"
