Nicely situated in a quiet area but within a few minutes walk of the DART railway station. Also Sandymount village is a 10 minute walk away if you fancy a meal out or a drink in a pub without going into town or using the hotel restaurant. Very comfortable, nice big room, staff excellent. Definitely would stay there again.
We were early arrivals and having pre warned them a room was available for us to check in at about 10.30 am.

Dublin's friendliest 3 Star*** Hotel. For over 50 years customers have returned time and again to experience the warm and …More
We arrived a few hours earlier than our check in time, hoping just to leave our bags at reception while we went for a wander and returned at the correct time to check in, but the receptionist said our room was nearly ready, so after a lovely coffee in the hotel bar, we were able to get into our room almost 3 hours earlier than expected, allowing us to relax and freshen up before going back out to explore Dublin for the afternoon, which was wonderful!
The hotel is in a row of beautiful old Georgian townhouses, which have been renovated and decorated in a quirky but tasteful modern style. The room was clean and spacious with an enormous (and very comfortable) bed and a spotless bathroom with a great shower.
The hotel was about a 25 minute walk from St Stephen's Green/Grafton Street area of Dublin through some beautiful tree-lined Georgian streets, but there is also a bus stop just outside the hotel with an ample bus service to the centre of town and other areas.
We had booked accommodation only for our stay, but decided to have breakfast in the hotel on our last day; there was plenty of choice, the food was freshly cooked and delicious and portions were on the very generous side (we didn't need lunch that day!) while being reasonably priced.
All the staff that we met during our stay were delightful, all very polite and as helpful as possible... If we return to Dublin in the future, I will be looking to book a room at the Hampton Hotel again.
Nice hotel. Lovely view of the aviva from room. Only issue I had was one of my own fault I failed to realise there was a radiator in the room till the middle of the night and it was on full , it was roasting apart from that great stay
really great hotel couldnt ask for more only thing is if your wanting to go out like we did its a fair walk back after buses stop running also buses are 1.95 to trinity college each way so works out quite a lot if you come back after the day time and go out again every day but overall great
Leafy Ballsbridge is a quiet and exclusive residential area, a 20-30 minute walk into town (served by frequent buses). The Grand Canal flows through it, and while much of this waterway is less than grand, there is a pleasant stretch near the Richmond Street bridge with canal-side pubs. George Bernard Shaw’s birthplace is a popular neighbouring attraction.
