Excellent hotel and facilities with direct access onto beach. Few English guests, but this was not a problem. Good food choice but would have been good with theme nights - became a bit repetitive although always well presented. Good variety of drinks and not in usual cheap plastic cups. Entertainment available during the day if you wanted it but not pushy and there were quiet pool areas for those who wanted to relax.
Evening entertainment dominated by world cup matches so didn't experience much of usual hotel entertainment.
Rooms clean and good size bathrooms, most having a sea view.
Lovely beach but watch out for the nudists!!
Chipmunk type animals can be found in the rocks next to the beach.
Only a handful of shops close by. Car hire beneficial to get around the island which is a must - experience the sand dunes in the North. Some lovely fish restaurants in the South.
Windy most of the time but this is not a problem.
This hotel was very good. The Apartment was clean and in good condition. The Hotel was on the beach , the beach was very clean and sandy with crystal clear warm waters. There were also two nice swimming pools .We went at the end of September and it was quiet and very relaxing. The area was not built up, so lovely views. The hotel was next to the small town. There was a good selection of cafes and shops but it was quite quiet. The hotel had a small theater for shows of an evening. It also had a small harbor for boat trips. We went all inclusive and the food was very good, Fresh cooked fish , lots of salads, omelettes cooked fresh for breakfast, in fact the buffet had a good selection of food very well cooked. I think the food was of a very good standard. I went for a week of complete rest and without a doubt it was a very relaxing break.
We previously stayed at this hotel last year and found it very good.
We returned this year and found they had made improvements to the layout in the dining rooms, food was well laid out and plenty of choice.
We feel they could offer better Wi-Fi as you have to pay to use it in your room, but get it free for 30 minutes in the reception area but by doing this only you are limited on use.
We stayed at the hotel at peak time, 1st week of August and though full, it never felt crowded. The hotel is beautifully laid out, very clean with very helpful and friendly staff. There was a good mix of nationalities, no drunken or rowdy behaviour. There was sometimes a short wait for a table during breakfast and evening meals. Can't blame the staff, they were doing their utmost to clear tables and set up for the next family, they just needed a few more hands on deck. There was always plenty of choice during all meals but dinners were never very spiced if you prefer a bit more zing to your food. Plenty of sunbeds by the large freeform pool, the indoor pool was also a nice touch. Beautiful sandy beach was just a two minute stroll down through the hotel. The beach is not a part of the hotel so you do have to pay for sunbeds and parasols (unless you go down after 17.00 by which time the bright orange vested money collector has usually gone for the day). Twee shows in the evening kept us entertained but nobody seems to want to dance after the shows, especially the teens cos they're too busy online using free WiFi in reception! The animation team were very friendly and good fun if you wanted to join in in any of the activities, but they were never in your face or insistent like some can be at other hotels we've been to. Chilled pool bar serving a nice variety of lunch dishes if you're not All Inclusive.
Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by the lovely Premium Club rep (Angela) who welcomed us to the hotel with a much needed glass of cold bubbly and a quick debrief of the facilities. We soon realised the rather hurried greeting was due to the lunch sitting finishing only 20 mins after our arrival and she did not want us missing out on.
All the staff were amazing, food was top notch, facilities really did enable us to relax and switch off for the week, stunning place!!
This was our first visit to the Esmeralda Maris but have stayed in the Esmeralda Hotel opposite for the past 14 years. It was a great experience for us doing self-catering, although on this occasion breakfast was included which was superb with plenty of food on offer, including cooked breakfast. The apartment was roomy with a good third bed in the lounge for the third person in our party. We did have our evening meal in the Restaurant of the Maris which was reasonable but felt we could do our own cooking for the rest of our stay which worked out so reasonably priced with good cooking facilities in our apartment. We could then enjoy our evening meal at our leisure on the superb balcony with wonderful sea views. We would recommend the Esmeralda Maris to everybody and we will certainly be back there next year - probably for two visits . You cannot get better surroundings and scenery than the Costa Calma. Thank you for your help in booking this for us.
