"Visable damp on the bathroom wall by the shower and a very strong smell of damp in the downstairs area including bedrooms. The owner tried to disguise the smell with air fresheners and by leaving the windows open but the smell of damp was still immediately apparent on entry. Had we been staying longer than 2 nights and not arrived so late in the evening on the first night we would have left. It was a real shame because everything else about the property and surrounding area was beautiful, but...

"Loved everything about our stay except that the bathroom was very small - hard to even dry off after a shower -- the space in the room was so tight. Parking was also challenging. Otherwise, lovely place with very pleasant staff. We were there during a heat wave, and a very nice staff person rounded up a fan for us. We were comfortable with the fan blowing on us all night (there is no AC but we didn't mind). The breakfast was excellent, including the vegetarian full English. Lovely outdoor seating area. Easy walk to the center of the village. I would definitely stay there again."

"We stayed in the Lodge 1, it was aesthetically really beautiful! The only downside is you can hear EVERYTHING from next door, which wasn’t too bad for us because it was just TV but I can imagine if you had a rowdy next door neighbour in the lodge you’d be extremely disappointed. The Spa was beautiful and intimate it is a great escape for a couple… However, two elements of the shower didn’t work, the hydropool could use a bit of maintenance and a little bit of atmospheric music would be great (there is speakers). Besides this, it’s picturesque and relaxing facility. Breakfast here is AMAZING like 10/10 the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. You have both a continental breakfast, and you have a made to order menu. I ordered the eggs florentine and my partner ordered the porridge, both were great. This a hotel I’d definitely come back to and recommend for couples or friends looking for a relaxing getaway in the lakes :)."

"A lovely hotel in the heart of Ambleside. Our balcony room was in an annexe just a few steps from the main hotel. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the outdoor jacuzzi in the spa was a lifesaver in the immense heat we have just had. The food in the restaurant was lovely, breakfast was a continental buffet and hot from the menu and the dinner choice was very good and well priced."
