"Room was a good size, upgraded from what we booked which was a nice surprise, we arrived early and checked if the room was ready which it was so again this was a bonus! No staff on site that we saw but didn’t really need anyone, free to come and go as we pleased and the property felt secure and safe we even left the patio doors open to allow fresh air in, perfect location. Quiet spot in walking distance of Ambleside pubs would definitely return. "

The Daffodil Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"This place was a dream. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is right across the street from Dove Cottage and a short walk into Grasmere to see Wordsworth's grave. There is also a convenient bus stop right across the street if you are traveling without a car. The location is stunning; even a view of the car park provided beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The hiking path around Grasmere Lake was one of the most beautiful trails I've ever hiked. We stopped in Keswick and Windermere as well, and highly preferred the quiet location in Grasmere. The hotel provides excellent food, so you don't have to leave, although there is a great cafe and pub a short walk away. The property was clean, the bed was comfortable, the location was quiet, and the breakfast room was gorgeous! Not a bad view in any room in the place. Absolutely loved this place and plan on returning. Thanks for the remarkable stay!"

"Nice stay in the lakes with the dog. Great staff at the hotel, good breakfast and extensive drinks selection. Room was very small and pokey but otherwise ok and fairly comfortable. We were on the top floor and there is no lift, so would not be suitable for those with restricted mobility. "

10/10 Excellent
"My husband and I recently stayed at the Ambleside Salutation Hotel in the Lake District, and I genuinely cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect – the kind of stay that leaves you wanting to come back even before you've checked out!
The Location:
Absolutely unbeatable. Nestled right in the heart of Ambleside, the hotel is surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Our room overlooked a gorgeous waterfall, and waking up to the soothing sound of flowing water and a view of the hills was pure magic. It felt like a peaceful, luxurious escape wrapped in nature.
The Room:
Wow – our room was massive! Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and designed for real comfort. It had everything we needed and more. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the little touches made a big difference. Honestly one of the best hotel rooms we’ve stayed in.
The Staff:
Every single member of staff we encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. From check-in to check-out, we were made to feel at home and very well looked after. It’s clear they truly care about their guests.
The Breakfast:
Delicious! A fantastic spread with something for everyone – fresh, hot, and generous. Whether you're into a full English or lighter options, you’ll find plenty to love. The quality and attention to detail were excellent.
Exceptional Service – Going the Extra Mile:
Here’s what really blew us away: I accidentally left behind a bag of clothes after checkin"
"Booked this via VRBO and was forwarded to Hereward Cottages. Upon booking we were under the impression we had 4 bedrooms to use as we pleased - however, we were told (pretty rudely via email) the 4th bedroom was only suitable for children (even though the beds would have easily held a fully grown adult on the bottom bunk). We'd also booked two dogs but didn't check this at time of booking, again, being told pretty rudely 'they would have to check' this was ok (it was btw!).All in all the actual bungalow was lovely, very clean, easy check in, comfy beds, sociable communal area, perfect location on the edge of Ambleside (steep hill to walk up so bare in mind if elderly staying with you).Downside: neighbour complained about parking as we'd left one vehicle half on the road and the path which she said was 'her space for visitors if they wanted to visit for an hour or two'. So please be aware, the driveway is VERY tight for 3 vehicles. (we had a TROC, Nissan Juke and Peugeot 206 and it was a SQUASH!)"
"I had a lovely stay at Hillsdale - Steve and Caz were fantastic hosts who couldn't be more helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was a great way to get the day started.
It's located really close to all the local amenities, there's great walks on the doorstep and the bus stop is a couple of minutes walk if you want to go further. "
