Founded in 1884 and set in the heart of beautiful North Wales, Bangor University has been undergoing huge investment, which has helped make it a highly desirable place to study.

Results of the 2014 National Student Survey ranked Bangor as the number one university in Wales for overall student satisfaction and quality of teaching. The A-Z of Universities and Higher Education Colleges has also named it as “one of the cheapest places in Britain” to be a student and cost of living surveys consistently rank it as one of the most economical places to study in the UK.

The university itself is made up of more than 11,000 students and some 650 teaching staff based in 23 academic schools grouped into five colleges. It boasts its own £1.5 million MRI scanner, a multi-media language centre, a natural history museum and a £3.5 million research vessel, The Prince Madog.

Its Pontio Arts & Innovation Centre is a new social hub for students, offering theatres, a cinema, exhibition space, bar and café. It is also a world-class facility for innovation in science, technology and the creative arts.

The university’s excellent leisure and fitness facilities have been further enhanced by the Canolfan Brailsford Sports Centre. It is home to the Dome, an impressive indoor tennis and netball complex.

There are about 150 Students’ Union clubs and societies and lots of upgraded and new student accommodation, including studio apartments and townhouses on the University’s St Mary’s site. There is also a café bar, shop, launderette, common rooms and sports and fitness facilities.
