Pocket Guide: Camp

Hotels in Camp

Camp is a small village located on the Dingle peninsula on the west coast of the Republic of Ireland. Its surroundings, which encompass miles of spectacular coastline, some of the finest walking routes in the world and a backdrop of rolling hills and mountains, attracts visitors from all around the world.

Hotels, guesthouses and hostels based in and around Camp offer rooms which range from country house luxury to basic but comfortable bed and breakfast.

With such a variety of accommodation on offer the most important question is where is best to stay to be close to the things you want to do?

Choosing just the right accommodation will depend upon whether you’re a keen walker, a golfer, a fisherman or part of a family looking for a selection of unspoiled beaches. No matter what it is that brings you to Camp, you’ll be able to find an inn or hotel that puts you in just the right spot.

Hotels in Camp

The main road through Camp is the N86, and it is around this route that you’ll find a selection of bed and breakfasts and hotels. To the north of these hotels, literally a five minute walk away, you’ll find the stunning panorama of the Dingle coast where beaches such as Maharees and Banna offer swimming, fishing, boating or simply strolling on the sand. A room with a sea view is easy to find, and the windows of the hotels or guesthouses along this stretch of the peninsula promise some incomparable sea views indeed.

Hotels for Keen Walkers

Right outside the door of hotels and inns in this part of Camp you’ll also find access to the world famous Dingle Way, a walking route which stretches 31 miles from the harbour of Tralee, through Camp itself, and on to Dingle. The one thing which anyone tacking a route of this kind is going to need above all else is a comfortable bed to collapse into at the end of the day, and the accommodation along and around the N86 will offer exactly that.

Hotels Along the Coast

Turn away from the Dingle Way and take the R560 along the coast and you’ll find hotel, guesthouses and breakfasts taking advantage of the splendid isolation available in this, one of the westernmost parts of the whole of Ireland. Not only will accommodation here allow you to soak up the tranquillity of the surrounding unspoiled wilderness, but it will also provide the perfect base for tackling the tough walking challenge offered by the likes of Brandon Mountain.

Whether you stay in a traditional working farmhouse, a luxury bed and breakfast or a basic hostel, you’ll be in the heart of the Irish countryside, with the sea and the beaches in one direction and the hills and fields in the other. Whether you want to get away from it all and savour the solitude of miles of beaches all to yourself, or get out and explore the local pubs and restaurants serving freshly caught sea food, you can choose a hotel room in exactly the right place.
