Part of the building is constructed from the ruins of Roman Verulamium in the 11th Century. Development carried out through the ages has left many intricate carvings and attractive colours representing different aspects of work carried out. The shrine of St. Albans is worth visiting too.
The Natural History Museum at Tring is a lovely place to visit a really interesting place in the small Hertfordshire town of Tring. Built in 1889 to house the zoological collection of Walter Rothschild, it has everything from tiny beetles to huge bears. Aside from the permanent zoological collection the museums programme updates regularly making it well worth a visit when in Hertfordshire.
