Interesting that the rooms were in the basement. Checked out fire escapes and two options- fire escape one way and main stairs the other..
Due to the location there was continuous air con, which was a touch chilly at times, but bearable.
There was some damage to the bathroom door, which the staff said had been done 2 days before and a new door on order.
Cleanliness on touch surfaces was OK, but high surfaces, such as the upper shelf of the wardrobe had not been done recently (I used to inspect hospital cleaning!). So I was glad I checked before putting items up there.

Excellent hotel with friendly staff. Very close to city centre and unis.
Did worry about the lack of a window but it was ok in the end. The staff were incredible; friendly, welcoming and helpful, genuine with no hint of corporate falseness. The bathroom was very clean too :)
Lovely staff and welcome at reception. Room very comfortable and well appointed, including an excellent shower. Only drawback is that the basement rooms don't have windows, but for a stay of one or two nights, doubt you could find better for the price. Walkable from station and to the shops, so convenient for everything.
