"Absolutely wonderful hostel. It met all our needs: good shower, nice beds, clean, towels for hire, kitchen where you could cook your own meals. Wonderful support and location."
"Charming historic inn located a few miles from Wrexham. Accommodations and staff were wonderful and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. "
"Booked this fairly last minute for a bit of peace and quiet and good views and it did not disappoint! Place was spotless with everything you could need. The Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa
10/10 Excellent
"Fabulous location and beautiful views. This hotel is only a 15 minute walk into Llangollen. The staff were amazing and Melanie and the new girl Jody showed us the beautiful penthouse suite which is out of this world. We look forward to returning very soon. "
"It was perfect for a night or 2. I tried contacting the owner before hand to ask booking in time and how to get in but no reply so we were hanging around hoping. More communication would be great, however the rooms were small and had everything we needed. Spotlessly clean, pure white towels, clean bedding and plenty of sockets. Lovely outside seating area. Will definitely return. "
"Perfect location to explore the area. We were there for the Llangollen Round - a 35 mile event - and it was the perfect place to begin. We had an amazing outdoor space which we used all the time as the weather was kind to us.
We ate outside too as there wasn't a table for 4 accessible without having to move furniture about in the lounge. The TV we gave up with as too small to see and we were just enjoying having a chat anyway.
The kitchen appliances were fantastic but could have done with a better selection of pans to cook with .
There were a few area that hadn't been dusted in a long time in the second bedroom but the rest of the cottages was very clean. We had a huge supply of towels which we washed throughout the stay as there was a washing machine and drier in the outdoor area. Overall we picked this one because of the outdoor space and we were lucky with the weather. Not much space inside if weather is bad - especially for young children
There were lots of character features and plenty of hot water.
When showering, turn the heat control to blue (not red) as this increased the temperature.
Nice surprise was the bottle of red left in the secret wine cellar - nice touch."
"Lovely house. Just right for a couple. Everything was clean. Comfy bed. Lovely toiletries provided. Near centre of Llangollen.
We needed a bigger teapot though. Only made 1 cup. "
Cornerstones, 16th Century Luxury Self Catering House overlooking the River Dee
8/10 Good
"Extremely spacious and well equipped with one exception, given the unusually warm weather—no AC, some fans, and no screens on windows that do open. The garden has a knockout location right on the river and some rooms also have this gorgeous view, including the huge bathroom with freestanding tub. There are however a lot of stairs. Kitchen is on lowest floor. Entry and dining and parlor are on street level, and there is no bathroom on that floor. So it’s a trek from kitchen to loo. The top floor bedroom is huge and worked great for our kids and their baby. Location in town is phenomenal. It is a bit funky and eclectic, but it worked for us. "
The National Trust-owned Chirk Castle is a 700-year-old jewel hidden in the heart of the Welsh countryside, dominating the horizon from its position at the meeting point of the rivers Dee and Ceiriog.
