Clean, spacious rooms, lovely livation, very handy for buses and the centre, excellent breakfast.

Excellent hotel for the price. 10 min walk to Portobello beach and 20 min bus ride to city centre from right outside hotel. Bedroom was clean and spacious. Food very nice in the bar, and staff were very helpful throughout the hotel. Would definitely recommend.

It was probably the nicest hotel I’ve been to. Really beautiful old building in good condition with lots different rooms to relax including the library. Our room was smallish but really nice. We normally wouldn’t eat in the hotel every night but the food and service was so good the first night we stayed the next two nights. Very very good. ALL the staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent location right beside tram station which arrives direct from airport. Lots of added extras like champagne on arrival, free mini bar and ghd in room . Situated middle of old and new town. Walking distance to Edinburgh Castle . Definitely be back , best ever hotel

I really enjoyed my stay at the Doghouse. Having stayed in some lovely hotels over the years, many of them are similar and monotonous. The Doghouse REALLY stands out from the crowd. It has huge amounts of character. The decor is fun and unique and I love how the rooms are themed on the different beers. Great place to stay in Edinburgh

Enjoyed the stay. Hotel was clean, breakfast was good and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly - much appreciated. You use your door key to operate the lift and I thought that was a good idea for security purposes. Two things: a handrail on the two steps to the bar would be helpful for creaky knees and poor eyesight and, secondly, being forewarned that only credit/debit card payments are taken, no cash - this is prevalent in Edinburgh. I would go again.

Absolutely love this hotel and am happy to stay here every time I visit Edinburgh. This is my fourth stay so far. Only difference this time was the bar staff wasn’t as helpful and never brought an item I requested twice. Overall though I love this hotel.
