"It is in a great location but is in desperate need of renovation. The staff was pleasant but the hotel is poorly managed. My room, which at one time was an attic, was not especially clean. The sink was dirty because the water didn’t drain. I had to ask the desk three times to send someone to fix it. Overpriced for the condition never staying in a Leonardo property again. Ever. This made Super 8 look like the Four Seasons. "

"I was really looking forward to my time in Amsterdam, but this stay was a massive disappointment. Between the lack of hygiene and some very questionable management practices, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The most alarming part of the stay was the complete lack of security regarding luggage. When we needed to store our bags, the staff just let us walk into the storage closet by ourselves. Anyone could have easily walked off with someone else's belongings. It felt incredibly unsafe and unprofessional. The cleanliness was also well below par. There was a persistent, heavy smell of mold in the room that made it feel damp and unhygienic. It’s clear that maintenance and deep cleaning are not a priority here. There was staining on the iron board, sofa, and the shower curtains were nasty. The women working the morning shift were not welcoming or kind. It felt like a burden just to speak with them. The staff working at night were much nicer and more helpful, but their kindness couldn't make up for the overall state of the hotel. Overall, the combination of a moldy environment and the "self-service" security for personal property makes this a place to avoid. "

"Overall the stay was satisfactory. Beds were/was terrible (my bed) to sleep on. Doors slamming all hours of the night. Floor in my room looked extremely dirty, staff weren’t overly friendly until checkout and I got one really sweet and kind lady. Made conversation seemed to genuinely care about asking where I’m going now. I will not stay in the future. The only thing I thoroughly enjoyed was the many places to sit and read. "

"My experience at the Alfred Hotel in Amsterdam was genuinely shocking. From the moment we arrived, the staff were unhelpful and showed little interest in providing even basic customer service. The situation became far worse when my brother’s bag was stolen from the reception area. Not only was this an upsetting incident, but the staff’s response made it even more frustrating—they showed no urgency, concern, or willingness to assist us in any meaningful way. It was incredibly disappointing to see such a lack of care for guests’ belongings, especially in a space that should feel secure. The staff appeared indifferent and, at times, completely incompetent when it came to handling the situation or carrying out even simple tasks. Overall, the experience left us feeling unsupported and unwelcome. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting a basic standard of service or professionalism."
