"The cottage was in a wonderful location - the views over the water were stunning and it was wonderful being woken up be ducks, birds and occasionally donkeys. The check in process was easy, and the house was spotlessly clean. We didn't hire the hot tub as we were only there for a few days and enjoyed the local activities, which included Quad biking, Matlock Bath, the black rocks and Abraham's heights. All only a short drive away. We also went down to the water - unfortunately the bike hiring went into administration a few weeks ago so we couldn't hire any bikes to cycle around the reservoir. We walked a few miles instead enjoying the views! Overall, we had a lovely few days staying at the cottage. "

"The accommodation was very comfortable and wonderfully quiet.The close proximity to pubs resteraunts and general amenities gave the best of both worlds, a countryside location but still accessible to things you need.I enjoyed making a connection with you Pam and look forward to getting to know you and Nick in the future.It would have been nice to get to know Nick better instead of a brief meet at the property which was my fault.You were perfect hosts knowing you were there if we needed you.Thankyou x"

"Excelent communication from host with replies in minutes. The cottage is very cute and is in a very quiet spot with good parking and access to walking from the door. Due to head heights any body over 6 foot will need to be careful and wont be able to get under the shower, also anybody big would not be able to get into the shower cubicle as the screen is way too long. The cottage was not particularly clean though with mould in the small bedroom, dirty kitchen floor, dusty cups and plates. On stripping the beds i was horrified at the staining on the duvets and pillows. For the size of the cleaning fee it was disappointing. We certainly left it cleaner!"

"The staff at The Bear Inn are terrific: it’s a family-run business and nothing was too much trouble. You soon will get to know everyone’s name a they will remember yours; it’s the little things that set a small country Inn apart from the bigger and soulless enterprises. Check-in was easy and, although we originally planned to stay for a couple of days, we were made so welcome, decided to stay for two more. Our day always started with an excellent and leisurely breakfast which really set us up for a day of exploring and visiting attractions. There is lots to see and do in the local area; you can dive underground into some of the local guided cave attractions, ride in vintage cars, trams and trains, or fly through the air in a cable car. Back at The Bear Inn and after a full day out, you can wind down with the delights of a superb and varied menu, all washed down with well kept ale. The Bear Inn is a really old coaching house, steeped in history; lots of small rooms with exposed beams and fireplaces, make for a cozy and comfortable place to stay or just eat out. So, the next time we looking for places to stay in Derbyshire, The Bear Inn is right at the top our list. "
