Perfect location to get around and a friendly staff to assist. A rustic and established hotel with eclectic furnishings and charm.

Yes — that’s important to include because it keeps the review fair while still making the poor handling clear. We had a mouse in our hotel room. We woke up around 3:00 a.m. to a mouse scurrying around the room and immediately reported it to the front desk. Thankfully, we were offered another room to sleep in for the remainder of the night, which we appreciated. However, the person working reception did not come up to inspect our original room or attempt to locate the mouse at the time. The room was not checked until after we had left and checked out around 8:00 a.m.—approximately five hours after we first reported the mouse. We were then told that they checked and “found no mouse.” Considering five hours had passed, that response was extremely frustrating. We were not offered a refund. Expedia initially offered us $100 in OneKeyCash, then reduced it to $50, and eventually went back to offering $100 in OneKeyCash. Overall, we were very disappointed with how the situation was handled. This was supposed to be a special stay during our anniversary trip in Venice. Instead, we were woken up at 3:00 a.m. by a mouse in our room and had to move rooms in the middle of the night. Unless you enjoy the possibility of mice in your room, I would recommend finding somewhere else to stay. Or choose another provider than Expedia.

This is a great hotel at the wrong side of the canal. Going from one side to the other is only a nuisance but it makes a difference. Having said that, we still like the hotel given the cost value relationship
