The Fox Hotel and Suites

"We recently stayed at the Fox for a dance competition, arriving Thursday and checking out Saturday, before returning Sunday to stay until Monday. We’ve stayed at the Fox many times over the years and it has always been a favorite for our family. The grotto is always a huge hit with the kids, and we especially love the two floor units that help separate the living and sleeping spaces. Our first two nights were wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised to be placed in a renovated room. The beds were very comfortable, the room felt fresh and clean, and we slept really well. When we returned on Sunday, check-in was once again easy and the staff were excellent. Unfortunately, the room we were assigned that night was very run down. The condition of the room made it feel unclean. The floors did not feel clean, the couches were heavily stained, and overall it just didn’t feel well maintained. It was concerning enough that we requested a different room. To the staff’s credit, they were extremely accommodating, especially considering it was a long weekend and the hotel was sold out except for a two bedroom suite. They upgraded us at no additional charge, which we truly appreciated. The staff and location continue to be major positives for this property, and we’ve had many great stays here. However, I am hesitant to book again until all rooms are renovated, as the inconsistency between renovated and older rooms is significant."

Canalta Lodge

"This is a warm, friendly and family oriented place to stay. It is a 10 minute walk to downtown Banff. The hot tubs and sauna are well maintained and the s’mores around the fire pit was something we looked forward to every night, while playing board games that are accessible to play. The buffet breakfast has a lot of variety. There is something for everyone. The room we had was like you would have in a cabin. So warm and cozy. Would stay again."

"The stay was disappointing overall. While the front desk staff were great and very friendly, the property itself felt very dated and poorly maintained. There were cigarette butts all over the balcony and scattered on the rocks below, which made the outdoor space feel dirty and neglected. We also found long hairs in the bathtub and on the chairs when we arrived, so the room did not feel properly cleaned. Additionally, the area leading to the pool and hot tub was under construction, and the indoor hot tub was roped off with a sign stating it had been ordered closed by Alberta Health Services. This was especially frustrating since the pool and hot tub amenities were one of the reasons we booked this hotel. Unfortunately, because of the condition and lack of upkeep, I would not recommend staying here."

"We were disappointed in the cleaning staff. Other than make the bed, they didn’t clean and didn’t even replenish our coffee or take away used coffee mugs. D On the positive side, staff ( special mention to Melody) went out of her way to get us set up on the complimentary e-bikes. A+"

Hidden Ridge Resort

"Great location with a easy downhill walk into town. Free included bus pass lets you easily access Banff and stops right at the resort. Rooms were as described. Comfy beds, lots of space. They could use a bit of updating- but were more than functional for what we needed. Parking was either outside or underground-which was lovely with the unexpected snow. The resort looked out onto the beautiful mountainside. And close to tunnel mountain hiking trail. Check-in was easy, quick and excellent. Would recommend others to stay here and would stay again."
