MIDFORD MILL - BATH - sleeps 10 guests in 4 bedrooms

Local Area

The village of Midford is situated about 1.5 miles south of Bath and consists predominantly of cottages and larger family homes under the backdrop of the Midford viaduct. The village boasts easy and quick access to Bath city centre, a great local pub, access to the Two Tunnels cycle path, good country and riverside walks and a regular bus route.

The Mill House

The Mill House has been refurbished to a very high standard (Apr 18) and offers spacious accommodation arranged over 3 floors covering a very generous 260m2.

It is a Bath Stone property with a river frontage, an 'island' and gardens of just over ¾ of an acre. The interior retains many period features including exposed beams, fireplaces and recessed windows. The property is ideal for large extended families, 2 families holidaying together, weekend reunions and birthday parties. Sorry, we do not allow pets/dogs.

The ground floor living area provides an extremely comfortable and functional space for 10 people.Entertainment is provided by two 50" HDTVs, with a fantastic woodburner to the main reception room. Comfortable sofas and armchairs provide relaxing seating. For meal times there is a large wooden table in the dining room together with a cosy 'lookout' seating area that overlooks the mill weir. There is a fully equipped Kitchen with AGA, additional induction hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, toaster , coffee machine and kettle. The space is also practical with plenty of coat hooks and boot rack, waste bin and recycling containers in the utility area.

Upstairs there are very comfortable Vi-Spring beds with crisp white cotton bedding. There are 4 very large bedrooms that all have beautiful views over the river and countryside beyond. On the first floor there is a double bedroom and a triple bedroom and a family bathroom. On the second floor there is a double bedroom, triple bedroom and very large landing which is great for those that are looking for a quiet place to chill out. All rooms have a minimalist feel and are finished with hand-made linen roman blinds.

Bathroom, Shower-room and facilities

The mid-floor family bathroom is very large with a WC, washbasin and large free-standing teardrop bath.

Downstairs there is a modern wet-room with large shower area, WC and basin.

For convenience there is a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron, ironing board and hairdrier.

Externally

There is a fantastic (120m2) patio in-between the mill-house and the river and over 3/4 acre of gardens that include river fishing rights, an island and a large lawn.

The Mill House has walls that are 3 feet thick in places and well insulated.

As part of its refurbishment, underfloor heating was fitted to the shower-room downstairs and efficient radiators everywhere else. There are fully automatic heating circuits that ensure the 3 floors of the Mill House are warm and toasty when required but not oppressively so, overnight. The kitchen is heated by the Aga.

Whilst this is a great space, the staircases (without stairgates and with wide gaps between stanchions), relatively steep access to the main entrance door and close proximity to large riverside walls and fast-flowing river would present particular challenges to those with mobility problems and potentially for families with small children. But please feel free to contact us to clarify any potential issues.

Family vacation
Beautiful property and home, nestled on the outskirts of town. Very quiet. Peaceful. Relaxing. We had great family dinners outside and in. Loved our sleeping quarters. So pretty. Loved trying your Aga cooktop and ovens. So fun! We loved walking the foot paths. Great after dinner adventure. We would recommend highly. Somewhat difficult to find transportation to and from Bath. Bus not reliable. Ubers took quite a while to secure rides. Requesting rides quite a bit in advance did work for us.

Beautiful Relaxing English Getaway
This place was absolutely wonderful. It superceded all preconceived ideas of the home and location. We couldn't have asked for better. The trickling of water in the stream behind the home, flowers, back patio and beautiful view were very calming to the mind and soul. We wish we had a week to a month here. Just wonderful!! We will be back! Thank you so much! Quint & Chelly

Terrific property
Our only regret is that we had too little time to stay. A wonderful property. Rarely do you find a listing where it's even better than you expected.

Supurb
Gorgeous home sensitively renovated. We were initially upset that the main bathroom was shared between all 4 bedrooms. The second bathroom is on the living room floors. BUT the home is SO beautiful, the setting is fairy-book and Bath is gorgeous. Hope & Anchor saved us many times with beautiful meals in a wonky dining room. We would love to come back. Nigel & sarah are great hosts - constantly adjusting water/warmth for our jetlagged party AND even finding our phone. Highlights: 4 glorious bedrooms, a roaring life-affirming fire, a kitchen fuelled by an aga. 🥰

Beautiful Mill House
We had a fantastic time staying in The Mill House. Everything was clean and good quality. The hosts made the house so cosy with Christmas decorations and even individual stockings on our beds. A very thoughtful touch. The house has stunning views of the river from all of the bedrooms and especially from the dining room. The house is warm and comfortable. The cycle route through the 2 tunnels is amazing and also good for a local run. Thank you Nigel and Sarah for making our stay so lovely.

Beautiful house with the astounding garden.
We enjoyed our staying at the Midford Mills. Great place to spend time with family and or friends. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, the only thing that I have problems are the AGA stove since I am from the state and It is a challenge for me to use it. A very comfy house. And if you like fishing, it is the best place.
