Aberley House was beautiful, charming and very comfortable. Jonathan was friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and eager to help. Would recommend to anyone.
Beautiful, history-rich house with wonderful hosts. Be aware that the house is old and repurposed for BnB, so e.g. the windows are a bit older and the bathroom was on another level in our case. It is located right at the beach front and super quiet.
Wow, what can I say. The whole stay in the house was fantastic. Room, bathroom, food, host, location and being right by the sea.
Will return. Highly recommended.
Jonathan welcomed us as we arrived. He gave us a full overview about the area, touring options and the house facilities. He was very considirate and we worked a breakfast that suited our kosher diet. The house is AMASING! huge bed, beutiful bathroom, everything is nicely decorated.
We didn't come with a car so we used public transportation (Uber, train). It worked great.
Stunning location - we stayed so we could visit Another Place - and we could see parts of it from our room window. Fabulous period property.
Not so keen on Waterloo area.
Lovely property. Has a real homely but still luxury feel at the same time. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about having an out of room private bathroom but it works really well and is better than having a crammed in en-suite. Breakfast was excellent for both of us and the host, Jonathan, made me a lovely vegan breakfast. Just wish we could have stayed for longer
A great period/ historic property, with fabulous art, furnishings & fixtures. John our host was wonderful. We even had breakfast with Sir Anthony Gormley who was in Crosby to oversee work on his 100 iron men statue installation called" Another Place ". Along with our host John, Sir Anthony could not have been more gracious and polite. A truly, truly memorable trip. We'll definitely be returning.
Aberley House (the name of the beautifully restored house) was really the high point of our two-week trip around England. It's part of the architecturally significant Beach Lawn Terrace houses, across the street from the park-like Crosby beach, with the Gormley statues. We simply wanted a comfortable, upscale B&B while visiting relatives in the area and we were blown away - the house is light and airy, the full English is flavorful and satisfying, and the hosts, Jonathan and Yasmin, are incredibly interesting people. Ask them about their library, and the games room in the basement. Very cosmopolitan, and Liverpool city center is a short train ride away. We look forward to coming back!
The property was amazing, well presented and tastefully furnished. The host Jonathan was extremely welcoming. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom exquisite. The little touches such as the fresh brew coffee, fruit & snacks, with luxury pillow chocolates elevated the stay even more. To add to it all the breakfast was tasty, plentiful and cooked to perfection. We will definitely return.
The owners have done a beautiful job restoring their historic Victorian, and they've added all kinds of things today's travelers need, like beautiful showers, extra outlets, a special TV room, and delicious options for breakfast. Wish we could have stayed longer! Just be prepared for stairs.
Chain hotels are all well-and-good, but I always like to look for somewhere like this - quirky, individual, and above all, comfortable. This hotel does not have the trappings, such as a restaurant or bar, but what it does have is lovely comfortable rooms, a real sense of history, and a five minute walk to the frankly stunning 'Another Place' installation by Anthony Gormley. OK, so the bathroom was down the hall, but just look at it (see pic). The lack of a restaurant meant I got the chance to explore the local restaurants. Some of which were truly dreadful, but redeemed by the excellent Nepalese restaurant at the top of the high street. Overall, the welcome is warm, the attention to detail exceptional, and I will definitely stay again if I'm in the area. Oh, and the breakfast is top-notch.
It was an amazing building with amazing service. I just got more and more intrigued by the history of the building the more I looked and by the shear size of it.
This really is an amazing place to stay. Close to amenities, shops, restaurants and Waterloo station with easy access to the city in a handful of stops. To the north are Formby and Southport. You couldn’t stay any closer to the beach and the amazing Gormley statues in Another Place. Sunsets to die for. House is fascinating, beautifully maintained and rooms are spectacular. The host is fabulous and it really is like staying in a home not a hotel. You will not regret booking here.
Friendly staff, clean house, rooms and bathroom. Perfect overall stay.
Bathroom was down a flight of stairs but had it all to myself and worth the walk with the marbme floor. Everything looked expensive so nearly darent use it!
I have just spent a few days at this wonderful historic house hotel, what a gem of a place. Beautiful interior and decoration. Jonathon made us feel so welcome, breakfast cooked to order and was delicious. He is well versed with local history, not only about the house but the local area. I stayed in the sea view room and views were awesome. Definitely on my list to return....5/5.
