"A lovely hotel in a great country setting. Nice grounds and a river at the end of the garden. Hotel nicely decorated and very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. I only had breakfast at the hotel but that was top notch. I would definately stay there again."

"We stayed here for a couple of nights for a long weekend exploring the Yorkshire Wolds. The location is great, being close to a few larger towns like Driffield and Pocklington, but also close to some amazing walking including a stretch of the Yorkshire Wolds Way. The room was really lovely, the staff friendly, and the food and beer fantastic. We will definitely stay again when we're next out this way! "
"The host was very kind and helpful. The Barbican is located just outside the wall, which is brilliant, as inside the walls is quite noisy until very late. We would definitely stay here again!

"Lovely beer garden with the option to eat meals in the beer garden
Parking was a bit hit and miss as there are a lot of rooms and not a lot of parking spaces
Staff were very friendly and meals very good
Accommodation was very comfortable and rooms were quiet
Highly recommended"

"Absolutely could not fault the staff. The room was clean and we enjoyed being close to York St John University and the shopping hub of the city centre. The food was okay although at breakfast there was sometimes bits missing or run out- no hot water for tea, run out of sausages, etc…. The staff were very attentive and the little texts to check in on us during our stay were lovely. "
"Really nice stylish hotel with lovely staff and facilities. Because of a delay we arrived at the hotel after the cut off for breakfast but they went out of their way to get us a bite to eat, only a bacon bun but much appreciated. "
