"Very nice clean hotel with very friendly staff. Michelle provided very good service and shared some interesting history about the hotel and the local area. Evening meal and carvery was excellent. Very convenient car park also. I’d recommend staying here."

"Good location and economical"

"A lovely find hidden away off the main street. We only booked the room an hour before arriving but were made to feel very welcome by the young lady behind the bar. Breakfast was cooked by Phil and was delicious and he came out and had a lovely chat with us. I would highly recommend. "

"We stayed at Upper Instow Beach Cottage (actually a first floor apartment) for a week over Christmas. As it is a historic building it has some quirks but we quickly got used to its 'personality'. If it was any nearer the beach the sea would be lapping at the front door - and with two pubs and a restaurant within 2 minutes walk its a fantastic location. Everything we needed was provided. Furniture and bedding were comfortable and the kitchen was (despite its compact size) one of the best equipped we have come across in many years of renting holiday homes."

"We had previously eaten at this hotel and were so impressed that we decided pay another visit and stay the night. We were not disappointed. The room was excellent. Every member of staff we met were warm and friendly and the cooked breakfast was superb. Appledore is such a lovely destination and a stay at the Royal George makes it all the more special. "The photos do not reflect how spacious this property actually is ! Hispaniola provides everything you might need making it an excellent home from home vacation rental. Without hesitation we would stay here again. It’s on a quiet street just a few minutes flat walk to all that Appledore offers. Sarah, the host, was extremely accommodating. "

"Loved the location and great breakfast. Downside very steep narrow stairs and bedroom furnishings a bit tired. There's only street parking with time limits in summer. "

Seagate good for food.If you like fresh fish, go to the wet fish shop at Appledore Quay. Impressive range of fish and seafood. "
