Strand Palace Hotel

"room was well set with a comfy bed. Air conditioning makes a difference especially with the current weather. Breakfast was my only concern as a woman on my own having to join what looked like a "scrum" for everything made breakfast a non starter.. I opted for the gin bar which has a very limited menu but was sufficient to avoid spending time in the "scrum". Staff were very helpful and having stayed they accommodated my luggage whilst I went to a show which collected after great service point."

The Marble Arch Hotel, by Thistle

"Room was clean and quiet, though there was a bit of noise from the aircon while the window was open that some might find bothersome. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Went to breakfast once and the food was OK, but other guests were behaving like animals, pushing and shoving, walking between seated people as they couldn't be bothered to walk round tables, worried the food would run out, want to get their money's worth etc. Great location for Oxford St (obvs) and main tourist attractions. If mobility is not a concern, easy walking distance to Picadilly Circus, Soho, Leicester Sq, Bucks Palace etc. Tube station very nearby. I'd stay here again, but would choose room only to avoid the restaurant."

The Drey - Kensington, Earl's Court

"This establishment definitely deserves 5 stars, great location, really nice atmosphere, safe and quiet area, walking distance to restaurants and a tube station. Only complaint is the A/C DID NOT WORK properly which was crazy because my room was super super small, I was sweating all the time, despite the bed was beyond comfortable I could not sleep well because of the heat. Will definitely consider staying here again only if I get a room with good A/C."

Zedwell Piccadilly Circus

"Location is fantastic. The room is basic. Two beds and a bathroom. No windows, no chairs, no tables, no desk, no thermostat. Clean enough. Would consider staying here again, but I have gotten used to having someplace to sit and a table to put stuff on (besides the floor.)"

"I arrived at this hotel and while check in was super and easy, with a helpful member of staff on hand to support, when I got to my room I was shocked and disappointed at the state of it. A huge dehumidifier was taking up most of the empty floor space and was noisier than a pneumatic drill; clearly there had been some kind of horrific leak. The carpet was still dirty and damp, the smell was horrible and there was a used dirty bath mat on the floor in the bathroom. The bathroom did appear to otherwise be clean but the overall state of the place - other than in public entrances - is in disrepair. I’d warn against staying here or check the state of the room you’ve booked before you arrive."

Mitre House Hotel

"We upgraded our room to a Superior because it was larger, had 2 chairs, a cupboard, + a wee vanity. We liked that the twin beds were side by side to make a king & were very comfortable with 4 pillows + extra bedding. We liked the upgraded quality & quantity of toilet paper supplied & toiletrees provided. The included full course breakfast was spectacular in a very elegant, upgraded setting. Wonderful. The all day/evening Bar is a great feature to catch a drink anytime. We did not like that breakfast ended at 9am. Should be 10am! The shower in our room was the worst ever of any hotel we stayed in. Ridiculous honestly! A badly needed improvement asap. The location of this hotel is perfect- a 5 minute easy walk from Paddington Station and the hotel is in a lovely setting. There is no air conditioning (Fan provided.) so be sure to not stay here during hot temps. It was 33c during our stay! Regardless, I highly recommend this hotel & it has an elevator!"
