Not a 5 Star. No air con, no minibar, no dressing gown, no sleepers, no shower cup, no chest of drawer to unpack, no coffe machine. Fan in a bath was very loud at night no able to turn it off. Balcony was dirty. Balcony door needs fixing. Stained furniture, stained rug. We had a kid with us, no towel or tea cup for her were provided. Views was amazing, very warm in the room, decor in lobby corridor’s beautiful but room super out dated

Fabulous location, very nice ( but chairs are uncomfortable) decor, limited menu for dinner. Both Olivia and Matt, at the front desk, are superb and very helpful. Windows in the rooms can be opened which is nice. The 100 year old lift has very heavy collapsable doors which are difficult to open and shut. In my opinion, not a property for disabled or informed, but they do have a ramp to access the hotel and can be requested.

Needs to up its game
On the positive side, the staff were friendly, the room was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable. On the negative side, hotels that aspire to be luxury provide a decent çoffee making machine and a fridge/minibar. I was concerned that the hotel was not following food safety regulations at the breakfast buffet. An issue i raised with the duty manager. When serving hot food the regulation say it should be maintained at a temperature of 63° C at both breakfasts the items were lukewarm, a potential for spreading food poisoning. The selection of breads and pastries was very limited considering that an excellent bakery was only 50 yards away down the next street. (It was open on New Years Eve). At £570 for a two night stay it was not value for money

On the positive side: staff were very friendly and responsive and I was able to check in immediately, even though I was a bit early. The mattress was super comfy and there was a nice selection of pillows. Both the room and bathroom were spacious. On the negative: I don't think I would call this 5* although it has potential. Some surfaces were dusty and both the carpet and the fabric covered drawers on the nightstands had spill stains. The kettle in my room was very calcified so I asked to have it cleaned, and I could tell they tried but it was still a bit crusty when returned. The description indicated coffee and tea maker, but there was only a kettle coffee bags, which was disappointing, and I expected a small refrigerator at a 5* property, but they were able to provide one when I asked. I would also expect a safe in the room and a bathrobe. My room did have the described full sea view, which compensated for the lack of amenites, but I did pay for that. I had higher expectations given the reviews and the 5* rating, so definitely room for improvement.

Wonderful Sea View
The Chatsworth was perfect for a weekend. Fabulous sea view and literally over the road onto the beach. Staff were very helpful and polite and it was a joy to stay there. I would highly recommend.

As soon as I booked and requested a late check out, everything was very smooth. The Executive Sea View with Balcony room was worth every penny from the view of the sunrise over the Pier, to listening to the Bandstand from the balcony in the evening. Because there was also a 2nd side balcony, I was able to sit there and still have a sea view when the sun was too hot as it was slightly shaded in the morning. The bathroom was gorgeous and spacious, the bath tub a good size and shape for soaking. The old fashioned lift with the seat was a cool hotel feature and I loved that the sea was just across the road. Needed a dedicated bathma5y Practicalities - there is no AC and no minifridge. The latter more frustrating as the balcony and windows compensated in the rare heatwave we were having. The hotel looks freshly renovated but lost points in minor details like the paint at the corners. The staff, especially Ed, were very helpful both virtually and in person. I did have to remind the reception that I had paid in advance when they asked to take payment. They did hold my luggage for me after my checkout too and standard check out time is already generous. I would definitely stay again once

Was a nice hotel especially the comunial area, love the old charm lift, just shame about dirty carpet inside it, room was comfortable but lighting was poor and there were stairs s on carpet that could easily be removed, the tv did not work called a member of staff by Mobil as no phones in room, they came immediately but could not get all channels working which was a shame, the staff were helpful friendly and kind but the details let it down

Perfectly located next to the seafront and pier with lots of parking around. The staff were the best kind of friendly and professional. Although we didn’t use many services there seemed to be a lot on offer. The bar was comfortable with a more than adequate menu and a good selection of games.

Checking in and sorting parking (note: it’s on street with a permit for £2/day not £6/day/covered) was a breeze and the welcome lovely. The basic room was on a corner of the building, and having not booked a sea view I still had a clear view out of the side. Room also huge, bed very comfortable, only thing lacking is aircon but unless it’s boiling out it’s still comfortable. Sound proofing great in the windows too. And if you like a little quirk the lift is like something about if the 50s with the slide across door that you can sea out of as it takes you up and down! Lovely place - top of my list when I need to return to Eastbourne next.

i booked sea view executive room without balcony as shown in picture. But i have been given one with dirty balcony. i ask to change but been told this is the last room. for £200 this is a joke. i will give it 1 star the most rating as hotel.

Two nights in Eastbourne
Our room was comfortable and clean, well furnished and equipped. The bed was large and especially comfortable. We had everything we expected for a hotel room at the price we paid, including its excellent location and convenient parking. And the customer service was excellent and professional at all times. We did not have the breakfast at the hotel but there were plenty of excellent eating places nearby. The only downside we noted was the lack of proper blackout blinds or curtains to prevent too much light in the morning, which meant we could not sleep long after sunrise at about 5am. I’m sure this isn’t a big deal for some people but we probably would not stay again unless this was sorted. So overall it was a comfortable stay but with a minor improvement it would be perfect.

It is a fine old building in a good position, some rooms having a view of the pier and seafront. The bedroom was modern and comfortable. Breakfast was overpriced and dull. The was no catering other than breakfast. Overall the room price plus breakfast exceeded the value in 'Tennis week'

Just wonderful!
Wonderful hotel! I have stayed in Eastbourne many times from 3star hotels to the impressive Grand hotel but after staying at the Chatsworth there is no competition! From the wonderful, helpful staff, particularly Olivia, to the impressive well designed room. Breakfast was delicious and the service great. Thank you for a lovely stay, I will definitely return!
