"The property was dated, carpet dirty, bed simple and hard, room side was dusty, no proper tv only iPlayer and YouTube etc, bathroom small and stained and noisy because of the water pump when running hot water and when the next room uses the water, all switches switched all the lights on and off and nothing in-between, stank of oil based paint for the whole of my stay overall wouldn’t stay here again"

"The room was comfortable, the shower excellent, the staff were lovely (especially the receptionist). I do think that it should be made clear when booking that the lodge is a few minutes walk from the main hotel."

"The bed in our room was very comfortable and the room and bathroom had everything we needed for a nights stay. We had breakfast and was disappointed with the quality for the price - the poached eggs were hard and instead of the sourdough it stated on the menu, it came with cheap white bread. This was rectified, however we had to (obviously) wait for our breakfast to be re cooked and our family (who had ordered something different) had finished their breakfast by the time ours arrived. They did take our drinks off the bill, but for £14 each we feel it should have been right the first time. "

"Plenty of parking, check in was swift and well organised. Staff very helpful and polite. Breakfast was ok, lots of people and staff struggled to keep up with demand. All in all, a good experience."

"A beautiful hotel set in equally beautiful surroundings. Staff were wonderful. Food in restaurant was five stars. We will be back. Perfect hotel to stay for walks around area. Cannot recommend enough."

"This hotel was in a beautiful location with stunning grounds (which needed a bit of maintenance). the bar, reception, restaurant & seating areas within the main hotel were beautifully updated but I stayed in a room out the back in a separate wing and my patio door was broken and could not be locked so i had about 1/2 hours sleep - worrying about someone coming into my room. This whole block needs serious renovation. All in all though the room - even though it needed a complete update, the bed was comfortable and the linen on the bedding was lovely. Lovely meal in the restaurant & the breakfast was delicious"
