Ireland holidays

FACTS

  1. Some of the Western literary canon’s most notable contributors derive from Ireland – Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift and James Joyce to name just a few.
  2. Clearly a creative (and popular) island, Ireland has also won the Eurovision Song Contest seven times, the most recently being 1996.
  3. Ireland’s national symbol is the shamrock, a three-leaf clover native to Ireland. This symbol was apparently adopted as a national emblem because local legend states that St. Patrick picked a shamrock to illustrate to his listeners the Trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
