Pillo Hotel Ashbourne

The Rath, Ashbourne - Map
"Convenient location to Ballymagarvey village"
We stayed at Pillo Hotel for one night as we were attending a wedding near by. The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The hotel reception staff were very helpful arranging taxis for us to go to the wedding venue. The only disappointment and I wishes after I had not elected to pay for this was breakfast. The atmosphere at breakfast was one of chaos, the manager kept disappearing leaving a queue of people out the door. Wait staff had to be asked twice to bring tea and coffee. We were surrounded by tables covered in dirty plates that weren't cleared away. The actual food was not of a standard expected for a four star hotel and was a very poor example of an Irish breakfast- we only ate because we had paid already and had a long journey ahead. Hotel was very nice but I'm afraid the breakfast really soured our opinion.

"Easy commute into Dublin."
This recently renovated property has been updated and is very tastefully decorated. The hotel is located within a city/town block and a walk inside is definitely worth the time. The rooms are modern and spacious. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are well appointed. It is worth adding breakfast to your room. A variety of continental and full hot Irish breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Located on a bus line and near a highway it is an easy commute whether riding the local bus or self driving into the city center of Dublin or Dublin airport. We found it easiest to park our vehicle in the car park and take the city bus into Dublin. The town of Ashbourne has a small city center with shops and grocery stores. I enjoyed my stay and the location of this property.

"Perfect for Dublin Airport "
Overall was a good value. The fans in the bathroom were so loud however, my neighbor had theirs on and it was like sleeping next to a jet engine. Ear plugs are good. The manager was great. Very nice and accomodating. It was perfect to get to the airport within 30 mins.

"Beautiful Country Inn"
This is a nice little B&B, they have a taxi service from the Airport which was WONDERFUL! Toni the driver is very warm and funny. I chatted for a bit with the Owner, Paul, who was very nice and funny and gave us great recommendations for dinner, the Cinnamon House is a MUST. My favorite meal of my whole trip. We only stayed one night. Since we didn't have a car we had to cab it back and forth to the town a few times which did get expense for us. Not a far trip into town, but too far to walk on the narrow roads.

"One overnight"
We were very happy with the hotel - excellent bed, fancy shower etc. BUT! We didn't have satnav or an app - it took us "ages" to find from the motorway in the dark - some of the dozens of roundabouts not well sign-posted. So be clear about your route - and have an up to date map.
