Not impressed at all really compared to my other stays at the Gotham, which have been explempary The standard room was not great and the service in the bar in the evening was very poor and my girlfriend and I had to wait for 10 minutes Not acceptable Also overcharged on the bar bill Would like a refund

The room was very comfortable and corridors were safe. We didn't eat at the hotel but have done previously. The lifts were down to one so we had to join a queue to use them. I thought the charge per person, in addition to room cost, wasn't right.

We loved the hotel and they even upgraded us for free. Hiwever because they swapped rooms for us and we had already left our bag there earlier. It took approx an hour for my bag to brought to our room. We paid £100 security depost and were advised 5 working days. That was on july 17th and were now july 25th and still waiting 😭 other than that fabulous hotel

Not what we expected
Despite paying in full ahead of our stay, reception ended up taking full payment on arrival at a rate that was almost £200 more than I had paid. It was refunded (and as usual took several days to return to the account) but the staff questioned the room rate we had paid, made a huge deal that it was never that cheap (to be fair it was a great bargain from hotels..com but not our fault) they continued to talk about how it must be wrong whilst we waited on the lift to our room. The experience made us feel like we were being accused of something sinister and ruined our first night. Visited the reception next morning and got an apology and a comped breakfast, which was nice. Checkout was pretty much the same debacle though, given an invoice for the much overpriced rate they tried at check in, they also wanted to take a percentage of that rate as a tip for the staff from the £200 hold they had on our card, so that tip would have been inflated too. The invoice also had the wrong confirmation number and the wrong card number. Emailed the general manager on our return, which hasn’t been answered. We found the service poor, but the building and location are perfect. The standard room is very small for the price, and not what I would expect for a five star property. It’s a sad day when the highlight of your stay is the scent of the toiletries, which were lovely. Wouldn’t book again, The Lowry is far superior and Motel One along the road is just as nice as The Gotham.

Beautiful but very expensive
Beautiful hotel. Unique layout with reception located on the 6th floor, fantastic service but be prepared to pay for literally everything and it’s not cheap. Booked dinner, bed and breakfast but what this translated to just £25 allowance per person and with most meals being around this price or more it automatically means you will likely need to pay for extras which are of course expensive as you would expect. There was no one on concierge when we arrived so we’re quite unsure of what to do as if you have never been before then it is confusing and not well explained. The mini bar is pricey. The toiletries are non existent. Just the basic large pumps for shampoo, conditioner & body wash / lotion etc. in a hotel of this calibre I would have thought shower caps etc would be provided. You don’t get much for a lot of money. Breakfast was fabulous as was dinner but even with this, the steak alone was £33 before any sides which were at least £5.00 each. Then add on drinks and any starters and/or deserts etc it soon adds up despite you already having paid a higher amount for dinner, bed & breakfast. It was also not made clear when I booked it that it was just a £25 allowance. Had I known, I would have gone elsewhere. I love that well behaved dogs are allowed. Overall a stunning hotel, ideal location, great service but be prepared to pay a small fortune.

A touch of class... with an edge
From entering and beeing greeted by the consiege, staying in Gotham is an amazing experience. This was the first time I've commented that people like working here. It felt obvious. Bags were in our room when we got there (went for a drink first, as check in system crashed), the room was amazing - Inner Sanctum Suite, definitely recommended. You have a striking media wall where you can choose your backdrop and ambient music. It's really impressive. The restaurant for breakfast was really cool, and again, service was great. The only negative was the breakfast. Asked for overeasy eggs - and they were a bit dry, bacon was a bit undercooked. That was the only gripe. The hotel feels really exclusive. I like that it's a members' bar and that the reception is 6 floors up... keeps the riff-raff out!
