"Beware Upselling When we checked in, a woman at the front desk aggressively tried to "upgrade" us into a "better room" as ours was cramped and would not be ready for an hour, she said. The price of the "upgrade" was GBP150. We had already booked an expensive, deluxe category room so passed on this 'offer' and our room--which overlooked Hyde Park was lovely and roomy... but this upselling at the front desk put a damper on our stay. Subsequently, I heard the same woman and also a man at check in, try upselling rooms to other tired travelers. They were very aggressive. Do they make a commission on upselling? This is an unethical and unacceptable practice. When we checked out, another front desk attendant said there was a GBP30 per night fee on our bill but it was not mandatory. Could you please remove it, I asked. Certainly, she said...and we'll see if she did. We have no idea what that "mandatory fee" was for."

"Good location with an easy check-in. Was able to store our luggage since we arrived early. Had a room with a double bed be aware room is very small, including the bathroom. You must really like the person you’re with to share it."

"This hotel is well situated close to a tube station. It provides a wonderful buffet breakfast with a healthy array of options. It radiates historic charm and a welcoming atmosphere. "

"This was a very disappointing stay due to the renovations that was taking place during the two days I was there and fire alarm mishap. I was advised when I arrived that the water would be turned off from 12:00 to 5:00PM both days due to renovations, rooms were not as viewed on website. Rooms were run down and dark. Restaurant closed due to renovation. Fire alarm went off and on during 2nd night for over an hour due to malfunction that was not fixable until maintenance arrived. All guests were told that they would get a refund for that night but when I pursued my refund they would not honor or grant my refund. Only one elevator operating and no safe exit if it was a true fire as stairwell blocked off due to construction. One positive note staff were friendly and were accommodating when I requested to check in early."

"We stayed two nights at this hotel. Everything was wonderful. Perfect location. Our room was large by European standards. Very comfortable beds. Very clean. Excellent staff. Would definitely stay again. "
