Clean and comfortable. Access is through the rooftop terrace which is busy on nice days. Good location, very convenient for us. Although no parking available at the pub we easily found somewhere to park on nearby residential streets.

I was told on arrival that the room is not part of the pub and is on and airbnb basis and is self contained. There was no food options available at the site. There was team and coffee in the room on arrival but these were not replenished during my 3 night stay. I chose this accommodation for convenience when visiting friends but probably would not use this accommodation again.

The room was very comfortable, I was warned about potential noise from the pub below on trivia night, still slept well despite this. Access via pub roof garden was unusual but security was good. Parking around the back was handy enough and free after hours plus for first 3 hours.

Very frustrated
Venue is not bad at all and staff accommodating at check in and bar service. Sadly that’s all that’s good as it could only be the staff that partied until 4am with the music absolutely blaring so you couldn’t sleep. Having to get up at 5:30 for work I was not at all amused and would never use them again due to this.

The pub below had loud music and pa on till 1155 . I was told there was a quiz on till ten . The lighting to the room from the deck area is poor and a hazard . The room was cold and the street out side was very noisy . Never again for me . Plus no food available, either tea or breakfast. Had ask for milk for the room to make a cup of tea.Or told buy some across the road from the shop .

Frustrating experience with the payment/check-in. Payment was taken by hotels.com three months earlier, but staff checking us in didn't know how to redeem this so asked us to pay it again. She explained this was a common issue, but we were wary and were luckily able to check online banking records to see the payment had been taken. It was a disappointing start to our stay by gaving to message the hotel.com automated helpline to sort this out as staff were rather insistent we pay again. We were informed upon arrival that there was a party booked in that evening that would end at 2am. We felt that the very least The Dark Horse should have done is contact us before our stay to explain this and give us the option of cancelling and looking for other accommodation. The access via the external staircase and "roof garden" is not the greatest as you have to fight through pub-goers to get to you room. The booking suggests there is free parking available, but this was just free parking on nearby (very busy!) streets, so that felt a bit misleading. The staff member explained they dont use milk sachets (or similar) in the room, yet had loads of single use plastic ear buds in single use plastic wrapping, so their eco measures are counteracted by this.

Stated free parking, but infact it was a paid car park out the back. But managed to get a space on the road. Yes it was a pub, yes it was loud, this was fair enough. However the pub closed at 12am so you expect the music to stop around then.. no it appears a lock in was held and at 3am approx it stopped... not what was expected. Room for 2 people, 1 coffee cup, no spoons, 🤔 how does that work, time we realised this in the morning, had to take a cup from another room and go shopping for spoons as really wasnt in the mood to call them as was all ready slightly annoyed from the lack of sleep. Overall not great just maybe a little unlucky.

Fantastic location, lovely pub downstairs very homey and welcoming. Room upstairs was nicely furnished, bed very comfortable and bathroom was great too. Tea and coffee facilities very useful. Great location for going out in Bristol

Only had 1 pillow and it was flat, the pub is loud till 1am and even when the music stops there's a loud generator buzzing all night. Zero signal in the room and no WiFi as the pubs WiFi doesn't reach. There's no welcome pack with any info on and no milk in the room for a cuppa in the morning. We got up early and just left.

Access to the room was up and down some steep, narrow wooden stairs and, to me, was a potential fire trap because that was the escape route. There was no hanging space for clothes unless you think that two coat hangers hanging from the curtain rail is adequate. We stayed for two nights and the room was not cleaned and the towels not changed. We didn’t like it and wouldn’t recommend it.

The hotel was great and the service. The hotel allows dogs, which is good. However, when we came back from dinner, the dogs they keep continued to bite our legs and jump up. My friend who I was staying with ended up bleeding due to the deep bites.

It was a lovely room but a bit dusty on the decor. The only problem no information about check out procedure. Apart from that everything needed is provided but only when the pub is open, excellent checkout time. slightly noises as on a main road and above a pub but ear plugs are provided. I think it could be slightly cheaper!

Bed broke along with few other things
It was great service and a nice place aswell as convience shopping wise however the were a few issues with our room for example the toilet seat was broken, the tap was broken aswell as the plug next to the bed was loose. On our last night there the bed woke us up as it had broken so we could no long sit on it or lie down. For the whole stay the bed was very squeaky so unsure if this was the reason why. However the staff and the place was nice just few issues that need fixing.

Thank you for the feedback. We were aware of the tap and awaiting a plumber and when the room is free to fix. The toilet seat was again something we have to fix as soon as the room is free. However we did not know anything about the bed. This of course is being fixed as we write this.

I really wanted to like our stay above this pub. The yoing man who showed us to our room was lovely, very helpful and efficient. The cotton sheets were crisp and good quality and the shower was excellent. Those were the good things. However, the room was extremely noisy with no insulation from the music from the pub below, the bedroom floor not clean enough to walk on in my bare feet, the bed was uncomfortable and, on a warm June evening, the window impossible to open. I'm sorry not to be able to leave a better review.

Obviously work was being done mess everywhere at the front. Bedrooms surprisingly clean and tidy despite exterior of building. Staff friendly. Good idea with security codes. Bed very comfortable. Net curtains unstable. Felt exposed to people on buses looking through the window.

Owners Dog Bit me!
Even though they were warned on March 9 by a bookings.com reviewer of their dogs’ aggressive nature they did not put any additional safeguards in place. When I left to take a walk on the Sunday morning the dog went straight for my ankle. It was not tentative and both fangs went in. Although they are now saying they have secured the door so the dog can’t get out, it has taken 3 attempts to get them to reply to talk about their dog’s behaviour, and then only by email. Walking though dog poo to get to your accommodation is not acceptable, and not taking precautions for the dog after it had already been aggressive is irresponsible. Hopefully this review will help others to avoid the same fate.
