Overall this is a great place to stay if you're visiting Galway. It's right beside the pedestrianized part of the city, so everything is walking distance. The room was very nice and clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We tried the restaurant too on a very busy night. There were a bunch of Christmas parties on, so the place was packed. The food and service were still great though, so that's worth a visit too. The only thing to watch out for is getting into the car park. The entrance is down a side street and is a little tricky to find if you're not familiar with the city. I would recommend looking them up in advance. You can't stop infront of the hotel, so if you don't know where you're going, you'll end up doing laps of the city center like we did until you figure it out.
This is my third time at the Western. Have always found it to bee very good value for money. Hotel is very clean, friendly helpful staff with more than adequate facilities. Free parking in basement is very useful. Bar and restaurant on site offer decent selection of food and drink. Only a few minutes walk from Eyre Square and Galway centre so very conveniently placed. Will be back when I'm next in Galway.
We had a really. Nice stay here. Checked in late and we're still able to get room service even though the service had ended. The stay was good. Nice breakfasts although the toast could have been warmer! They dealt with a problem we had with a partying neighbour at 3am and made a gesture of goodwill on checkout for he disturbance. Very nice.
Would highly recommend staying here! Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly (including the bubbly woman who checked us in/out and Colin on the night shift). The elevator was broken but she cheerfully helped us carry up our bags. We had requested a quiet room so they gave us a lovely spacious room with three beds (!) on the third floor. We weren't expecting the most luxurious room in the world for the great deal we got, but it was perfectly clean, the tub was great for a good soak and the windows on the angled roof let in the perfect amount of glorious light. Breakfast was very nicely served and tasty. They have a charming pub & An Pucan is across the street--great for their lamb special, huge whiskey selection, and live music. Really don't need to go far with accommodations that are so well situated next to Eyre Square, the two principal train/bus/tour bus stations in town, and all the happy sights and activities Galway has to offer!
Awesome hotel. Room 302. Double bed and a single. Very nice workers. Great view of Eyre Square, a block from train/bus station and all the outside city tours. Shop Street, appropriately named right there and all the amenities; Irish junk food, small market, ATMS, bars and coffee shops. Busy sure, but even front site windows remarkably quiet. A find.

Spent two nights here while exploring the surrounding areas (used Lally Tours, they were fantastic). The decor is a bit spartan inside, but the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lots of places to hang wet clothes. Lots of surface areas- Wood desks, dressers, nightstands, side chairs, etc.
Considered Ireland's cultural heart, Galway is renowned for its vibrant festivals, celebrations, and events. The city's most famous event is the annual Galway Arts Festival. Galway's University of Ireland is home to the UNESCO archive of spoken material for the Celtic languages. Two world-renowned Irish-language theatres are also here: Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe and the Druid Theatre Company.
