"We were greeted with such warmth. And a Prosecco! Miraculously our room was ready very early. We arrived from an overnight flight, so this was perfect. The hotel is perfectly situated for easy access to the Royal Mile. We agreed, based on our overall experience, that this was our best stay in all of Scotland."

"We stayed in here for 3 nights, we arrived at 11 and expected to drop our bags off at the hotel and come back when our room was ready, but our was ready and could check in and go straight to our room, which was great and so unexpected. The hotel is very central to everything, with views to the front, we had a view to the side which unfortunately had building works going on, and will be for some time, but it didn't detract from our stay. Breakfast was good, everything you would need to start your day of exploring. Staff were very attentive, we popped into the lounge where they serve afternoon tea, that looked amazing but we only wanted tea/coffee and a scone before we caught our train home and they supplied it, the best scones I've tasted in a long while. Our room was refreshed every day, clean towels, bins emptied, bed made, the only thing I would say about the bathroom is that I had difficulty getting in and out the bath for a shower as I am short and the bath was high, be extra careful if your short or not as mobile as others. This hotel is not suitable for the disabled as it has steps and stairs to navigate before you reach the reception after that there is a lift. We had a great stay in this hotel, full of character and charm right in the middle of Edinburgh city, you couldn't wish for anything more, I hope one day we will return."

"I rarely leave negative reviews, but our one-night stay was extremely concerning due to serious safety and administrative failures. At check-in, staff struggled to locate our reservation despite us having a valid booking. Although payment was taken, the process took much longer than expected, and we were eventually given a room. The most alarming issue occurred at around 12:30 AM when a staff member entered our room while we were asleep to check whether it was vacant. Being woken up by someone opening the door in the middle of the night was frightening, especially as two women traveling alone in a foreign country. After spending over an hour with staff, it emerged that despite our payment being processed, we had never been properly registered in the hotel’s system. Our room was marked out of order, our reservations had been cancelled, our registration paperwork could not be found, and staff were unable to explain how any of this had happened. The reservation had to be reactivated in the middle of the night. What concerns me most is that, according to the hotel’s records, we effectively did not exist as guests despite having paid and checked in. Had an emergency occurred, there would have been no accurate record of us staying at the property. We later sent a formal complaint requesting an explanation, but never received a response. While the staff we spoke to were polite, no one was able to provide answers. Overall, this experience left us feeling unsafe and disappointed."

"Very well located hotel, walkable to pretty much all parts of Edinburgh and all the buses for public transport were right out front. FYI- no Ubers are allowed on Princes St. The hotel itself is falling apart. The elevator access was a complete pain with the card readers and the room was TINY. We had two pieces of checked baggage and two carry-ons meaning there was no space in the room for us to even stand. The shower drainage and ventilation of the bathroom was awful so the room was always stuffy feeling. I had breakfast at their on-site restaurant and it was pretty underwhelming compared to the other hotels we stayed at during this trip. Would stay here again in a pinch, but will likely try another property if I visit Edinburgh again. The staff is all lovely though! Shout out to Craig who was very friendly and helpful."
