"The house was under refurbishment and new ownership but this did not affect my stay at all. It is well placed for trams and rail links, and main roads. I was able to travel in from Chester area and around South Manchester without going into the centre of town. Lovely walks along the Bridgewater Canal and plenty of places to get a bit of shopping nearby. Very comfortable and well furnished, reasonably priced, a welcome change from hotel chains with no individual character. Would recommend."

"Not impressed with the breakfast. Not much choice for vegetarian. Cold pastries. Generally tables we not very clean. Food very basic for a 4 star hotel. In the room, shampoo and shower gel containers were empty."

"Travelled from Dublin to check-in easily at 5 pm. Caught bus to Altringham for evening and then again in the morning to take train to London. "

"Free parking but you need to book your car in on a screen at the bar. Not an easy or simple check in when the bar is open. Lovely and helpful cleaning staff when the bar was closed (in the morning)."
