"This is a very special place. It's a little off the beaten path, which made for a very relaxing vacation. The whole area felt entirely safe. A car would be nice, but not necessary (we didn't have one). Tony, the hotel manager, is amazing! Whatever you want to do, wherever you want to go, he can help you make safe and affordable arrangements. We ate most of our dinners at the on-site beach bar/restaurant. Roberto was a great server and made top-notch cocktails -- I enjoyed everything I had there, especially the ceviche. We booked an ocean-front one-bedroom suite -- which was massive. The quiet, mini-split air conditioning unit was located in the bedroom but sufficient to cool the entire space -- even in upper-90s heat during August. Summer is high seaweed season, and I was worried about that, but it actually wasn't a big deal. Most days it was minimal -- this bay seems to be less prone to it than other areas. One day it was substantial, but once we walked through it, the water was still wonderful for swimming. It has a light sulfur smell when you are right next to it, but it dissipates quickly and you can't smell it after it dries or when you are relaxing on their wonderful white sand beach. Definitely go during turtle season. We saw hundreds of baby turtles making their way to the water every night and watched the mothers climb up to the beach to lay their eggs. It was just magical. Thanks for a great trip -- we hope to return soon!"
Beautiful Akumal two bedroom townhouse with private plunge pool

"This house was the perfect transition from Canada into vacation mode in Mexico.From the moment we arrived, I loved the feeling of it. A sinuous little path lined with tropical plants and trees leads you toward the house, gradually leaving the outside world behind. And then you arrive at this wonderfully private space, with no neighbours in sight. Exactly what I was looking for.The house itself has a beautiful, modern feel without losing that sense of being immersed in the tropics. It felt fresh, peaceful and comfortable, and the privacy made it incredibly easy to settle in and truly relax.And the plunge pool! Absolutely amazing. After a long, hot day that included a temazcal, stepping into that cool water was pure bliss. It became one of those places where you linger a little longer than planned, surrounded by tropical greenery and the quiet of the property.I also loved the kitchen. It was genuinely well furnished, which matters to me because I love to cook when I travel. Having a proper kitchen with everything needed meant we could pick up beautiful local ingredients and make our own meals rather than having to go out for every meal. There is something particularly lovely about cooking with Mexican ingredients while surrounded by the sounds and warmth of the jungle.The whole house had exactly the right vibe for the beginning of our trip: modern, private, peaceful and distinctly tropical. It gave us the space to decompress after travelling and ease into the rhythm"

"Overall, we had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. The only issue we encountered was during check-in—the entry code didn't work, and we had to wait about 30 minutes before we were able to get inside. It was a frustrating start to our vacation.The beach had a significant amount of sargassum during our stay, but we understand that's beyond the owner's control. Aside from that, the property itself was excellent—beautifully maintained, very well equipped, and the views were absolutely stunning.The most unforgettable part of our stay was the incredible wildlife experience. We were lucky enough to watch mother sea turtles come ashore at night to lay their eggs, and we also witnessed baby turtles hatching and making their way to the ocean. It was truly magical and something we'll never forget.Despite the check-in hiccup, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with breathtaking views and a unique connection to nature."

"Amazing stay! Better than the pictures. Exceded expectations completely. Everything was beautiful in this home and outside very spacious for a larger group. Had a blast at this villa we were a group of 12 adults. It truly was a one of kind gem. The host, the villa crew, the cleaning service, everything was top of line. Highly recommend!!!! Every room had phenomenal AC and perfect layout."

"We stayed for an entire month and absolutely loved the accommodations, location, and owners Jesus and Perdita. They were so gracious and accommodating even bringing us some homemade treats a couple times. The apartment and grounds were clean and well maintained, and the location was close to restaurants, markets, and the beach. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend staying here."
